About

Welcome to The Daily Renter, a media platform dedicated to exposing the hidden mechanics of economic rent and the rent-seeking that shapes our world.

We believe that the rentier class (those who profit not by creating value but by extracting wealth through land, financialization, and monopolies) has long evaded accountability as the architects of an unjust economic system. The Daily Renter is by and for working and business owning renters, the real producers of wealth.

As economist Michael Hudson said:

“It is necessary to take rent beyond economic theory, and re-establish it as a political doctrine by establishing popular awareness of its dominant role in today’s banking and finance, economic polarization and general prosperity or depression.”

Economic rent is the missing piece in our conversations about inequality, financial instability, environmental destruction, and political corruption. While mainstream discourse treats rising costs and economic crises as isolated problems, we reveal the underlying system of rent extraction that fuels these crises.

We report how land speculation, inefficient tax policies, financialized housing markets, and corporate monopolies drive inequality and limit opportunity for working people. We report on housing and land policy, urban development, taxation, and the global forces shaping economic power.
